Evening Rhythm of Engadin - Homage to Giovanni Giacometti- soft pastel

CHF 1,500.00

This original soft pastel painting 36×64cm. This pastel was inspired by an evening in the Upper Engadin, between the lakes of Silvaplana and Sils, where wide alpine meadows meet the quiet silhouettes of the surrounding mountains. As the sun sinks behind the peaks, the landscape loses its details and becomes a harmony of colour.

The composition is a tribute to Giovanni Giacometti, whose luminous paintings of the Engadin transformed ordinary moments into celebrations of light and colour. Rather than copying his style, I wanted to capture the same feeling of openness, simplicity and quiet joy that makes this valley unlike anywhere else in Switzerland.

The horses are not the subject alone—they become part of the landscape, their silhouettes creating a visual rhythm that leads the eye across the meadow towards the distant peaks.

Created in soft pastel, the work combines expressive colour with delicate layers of light, allowing the atmosphere to remain as important as the landscape itself.
